- Introduction
RFMD®, an
ISO9001 company, is committed to providing products of world-class
design, performance, reliability and quality. Our quality
program includes leading-edge design techniques, extensive
subcontractor and supply line management, comprehensive statistical
process control, and 100 percent electrical test. Whether
manufactured at our own GaAs HBT foundry, or one of our foundry
partners, RFMD's rigorous attention to quality has resulted
in a high level of customer satisfaction. Because of this,
RFMD has become one of the world's fastest growing RF integrated
circuit manufacturers.
Quality Policy
ISO 9001
RFMD is ISO9001:2000 certified.
ISO9001:2000 requires that RFMD establish, document, implement
and maintain a quality management system and continually improve
its effectiveness. The company is required by the standard
to identify the processes needed for the quality management
system and their application throughout the organization.
Certification to the ISO9001:2000 Standard demonstrates the
company's ability to consistently provide product that meets
or exceeds customer and applicable regulatory requirements.
It also shows the company's commitment to enhance customer
satisfaction through the effective application of the system,
including processes for continual improvement of the system
and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable

Designed-in Reliability
RFMD has a fully-equipped Reliability Laboratory onsite in Greensboro North Carolina as well as a Reliability support lab at our facility in Beijing, China. Package level reliability testing
is performed throughout the life of RFMD's products. Package
qualification is performed at product conception to ensure
that the chosen package meets RFMD's strict reliability requirements.
Once the product is ready for release, the finished product
is then subjected to additional reliability testing. After
the product is released, Ongoing Reliability Monitoring (ORM)
is performed on a periodic basis to verify that there have
been no shifts in the reliability performance of the product.
To allow for better control of the testing,
lower costs and reduced cycle times, RFMD has a fully-equipped
Reliability Lab in-house. In addition, we have a well-trained
staff of engineers and technicians to perform all required
reliability testing. A list of RFMD's reliability
equipment is available on request.
Process control monitoring is used throughout
the production process, including fabrication, assembly and
electrical test. Specific mechanical and environmental tests
performed for qualification and ongoing reliability monitoring
are available
on request.
Manufacturing
Facilities
RFMD has manufacturing facilities in multiple locations for
wafer fabrication, package assembly, and test as part of RFMD's
responsible and proactive supplier management. All locations,
both internal and external, pass corporate level qualifications
in addition to product and process qualifications. In addition
to standard process monitoring at the individual facilities,
RFMD ensures ongoing quality via monitoring of critical process
parameters, assembly yield, inspection of completed product,
reliability testing and regular audits.
Production Test
High speed, automated IC handlers and test equipment are used
to ensure consistent lot-to-lot product uniformity. All products
are 100 percent tested for critical RF and DC parameters.
All production test data are evaluated using standard SPC
techniques and then archived for future use. On completion
of 100 percent final electrical testing, each test lot is
sample tested to guarantee product performance to the specified
test plan requirements.
