Jerry D. Neal, the company's Co-Founder and Executive Vice President of Marketing and Strategic Development has over 30 years experience in the RF and wireless communications industry. Mr. Neal received his ASEE degree from Gaston Technical Institute and North Carolina State University. In 2001 he was awarded the Doctor of Business Management Degree from Southern Wesleyan University.
Mr. Neal started his career with Hewlett-Packard and continued his education in computer technology for more than 10 years. An entrepreneur at heart, Mr. Neal founded Moisture Control Systems for the production of his patented electronic sensor for measurement of soil moisture for research. This business was later sold to Hancor, Inc. Before co-founding RFMD, he broadened his knowledge of sales and technical business with 10 years experience in various marketing positions at Analog Devices, Inc.
As a co-founder of RFMD, Mr. Neal took primary responsibility for securing the initial funding for the new venture. His relationships with several venture capitalists resulted in the initial funding of the company. Mr. Neal established the image of RFMD in the marketplace and was primarily responsible for many of the key relationships, which have provided the company with the majority of its technology and sales. These relationships include TRW, Nokia, IBM, Jazz Semiconductor and Silicon Wave. Currently Mr. Neal's primary focus is in the area of strategic development to ensure the continuing growth of the company.
He has authored Fire in the Belly, the history of RFMD. This book chronicles the unique story of RFMD - its inception and explosive growth throughout the past decade. This revealing, often humorous account also offers a glimpse into what makes RFMD's company culture unique.
Beyond RFMD, Mr. Neal plays an active role in both the business and education communities and regularly speaks to civic organizations and universities desiring to hear the RF Micro Devices story.
In addition, Mr. Neal and his wife, Linda, are involved in many philanthropic activities. Their primary endowment is for research in the Infectious Disease Department at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the hospital where he also serves as a director on their Professional Advisory Board. Closer to home, Mr. Neal serves on the Board of Directors of Victory Junction Gang Camp, a year-round medical camp established in Randleman, North Carolina, where children with chronic or life-threatening illnesses and their families can enjoy medically sound and physically safe camping experiences.
